As honeybees are not native to north america, honeybees living in the wild are descendants of bees that escaped from kept hives, they are called feral.
Domestic honeybees are facing a crisis, mites, herbicides, and diseases are causing colonies to die by the thousands every year. There are reports that wild bees are doing fine in some areas in spite of this. Yet, there is little data on wild honeybees in most places.
